Sustainability and user experience is central to the scheme. The extension achieves BREEAM Very Good. By extending the library vertically it will avoid demolition and keeping the surrounding open spaces.

The shoot day turned cloudy, but the decision was made to proceed. The moody sky combined with the graveyard to the front added to the mood of the photos, accentuating the copper and glazed reflections.

These buildings were designed by Studio Egret West. Piercy & Company and astudio Architects also worked on the scheme. Main contractor was Balfour Beatty.
