Heritage & Retrofit Photography

Half the buildings that will exist in 2050 already stand today. Retrofit and sensitive repair work is doing some of the most architecturally and environmentally significant work in the UK right now, and most of it goes undocumented, or under-documented.

I work with practices including Donald Insall Architects and Purcell on heritage and retrofit projects across the UK, photographing the process as well as the outcome. These images support planning applications, awards entries for the Architects Journal, and the kind of long-form project storytelling that shows what conservation architecture actually involves.

The most radical act in architecture right now might be keeping a building standing.
